Guitar buying can be little tough for the beginners .If u have a guitar teacher with you then it would be best to go with him.But Make sure you read this entire page to get complete knowledge.

I can help you down with my experience.

Today there are numerous guitars available like electric ,classical, acoustic etc, but acoustic guitar is still the most popular by far. It’s difficult to choose the right guitar, because there are so many. I must say nowadays there is a lot of great value for money, but then again a lot of crap as well.

Before you go out and buy a guitar talk to friends, your teacher and people who are experienced. Take your time to listen and observe before you open your wallet.. To help you out on some key issues here are tips on what guitar you should buy:

Steps to select a guitar

1 – Style
First ask yourself the question what style of music you want to play?
(A) Do you want to play rock, blues rock or metal? (buy yourself an electric guitar )
(B) Do you want to play singer songwriters music? ( buy a steel string acoustic guitar.)
(C) Do you want to play classical music? (buy a classical guitar )

 2 – Age
If your child wants to play guitar (age 6 to 10) I suggest you buy him or her smaller sized guitar. That would be a classical guitar. Nylon strings are easier on the fingers than steel strings, so it is much nicer for younger kids. Depending on the size of the child you can also buy a 3/4 size guitar or a 1/2 size guitar.

Choose your budget.

Check for errors in guitar.

Advantages
The electric guitar is expandable with amps and hundreds of different pedals for creating great sounds. It is fairly easy to play because of the small neck and light gauge strings. You can also play really quiet if you unplug the guitar. This way you don’t bother anyone, but you can still play.
A steel string acoustic guitar or a classical guitar doesn’t need amplification. The body of the guitar serves as an amplifier so you are all set with just the guitar. The Steel string guitar sounds great without hassle. Don’t you just love simplicity :)
A classical guitar has got nylon strings which are easier on the fingers.
A classical guitar has also got a thicker neck than a steel string acoustic or an electric guitar which is great for big hands.
Disadvantages
An electric guitar needs extras to get you all fired up. You need an amplifier, you need cables and probably some pedals to go with it.
A steel string acoustic guitar is more difficult to play than an electric guitar, but it is worth the effort.
A classical guitar has got a thicker neck than a steel string acoustic or an electric guitar which is not so great for really small hands.

Reserving a guitar is easy, inexpensive and only takes a few moments. The big name companies like Yamaha ,Ibenez,Washburn, Fender charge ridiculous price starting about 10000 for acoustic guitar (but these are branded one giving you best service for your money), and you get the same service with companies like pluto,Gibson, kaps which will cost much less then that so beginners should never go for that much costly guitar.Advance guitarists can go for the big names.

Sound rich guitar

What does this mean? It means that when the string of guitar is played it should touch your heart ,you should get a feeling of "waao" what a sound this guitar has.The sound of guitar will attract you again and again to practice for hours .And this means a lot.

Firstly You should know that there are mainly two types of Guitar .
1.Acoustic (subdivided into hollow and classical)

2.Electric Guitar

So if you are a guitar beginner i would say that you buy hollow acoustic guitar .I dont know what is your budget but i would strongly recommand to buy that natural (yellow ) colour guitar which may cost you upto 5000 but it sounds awesome n awesome.

They can be of various company check in your local store. If you have little extra money and want a real branded one you can check for yamaha F310 .

Other famous guitar companies are Gibson ,Fender, washburn, Kaps ,ibanez ,walden ,takamine and there are few more.

Cheap local guitars (about 2500 INR )are also available in Indian market but many a times i have seen that they dont create a very nice sound and after some time the beginner losses its interest to learn guitar. They are also difficult to play as thier strings are many a times very higher from the fretboard.

It would be a bonus for you if you can get a very cheap 2nd hand guitar in the beginning. But it should sound good.
